Some aspects of mis-specification in the linear model

This paper is concerned with certain aspects of mis-specification in the multiple linear regression model. It considers the detection by the Durbin-Watson statistic of mis-specification such as the omission of variables or their inclusion in an incorrect functional form. These often generate serially correlated disturbances whose effects on the t, F and R ² statistics are also studied.
