ABSTRACT

David Reeder's long association with the University of Leicester dates back to 1952 when he became a student in the School of Education. During the 1960s, whilst pursuing a career in teacher training, he undertook part-time higher degree studies in economic history at Leicester, supervised by the urban historian, H.J. Dyos, culminating in a one year full-time research fellowship in the Department of Economic and Social History. His wife, Barbara (nee Hunt) had also graduated from the University College, Leicester, with a BA degree in Mathematics in 1954 and both his son and daughter went on to study for first degrees at Leicester in Geology and History respectively. His wife and daughter were also students in the School of Education.
