ABSTRACT

Teosinte name is commonly called for a group of four annual and perennial species of the genus Zea. Teosinte, the closest relative of maize is used extensively for green fodder but stover, silage, and hay is also used for livestock. Teosinte is used as feed and fodder for animals due to its vigorous growth, high yield, and tolerance to biotic and abiotic stresses. The quality of fodder is comparable to maize and possesses high percentage of carbohydrate.
