Introduction

This chapter introduces religion and the theology of reconstruction in Africa. The author argues that the reconstruction motif articulated by Jesse Mugambi broadened the social vision and praxis of Christianity in Africa. In this chapter the author provides a road map of the critical appraisal of the reconstruction motif in African religious and theological discourse as seen by the contributors to the volume.
