ABSTRACT

The author approaches social reconstruction through an analysis of the biblical character of King David, “a man after God’s heart.” Beginning with an analysis from the Deutoronomistic, the prophetic texts, as well as the Psalms within the context of the critical studies done by Hebrew Bible and Ancient Near Eastern scholars, the author argues that as King of Israel, David was a model of reconstruction, despite his human failures, and from his human failures David was able to offer different models of leadership necessary for the reconstruction of Africa today as Mugambi has argued.
