ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the Islamic policy of the United States. As a great power, the United States attaches a crucial importance to the actors who have the ambition to shape the political landscape in the Muslim world, particularly in the Middle East, a region where they have interests. This is especially true since this region is in turmoil due to the upheavals and revolutionary dynamics that have enabled the representatives of political Islam to come to power in several countries. Therefore, the Islamist policy of the United States must take into account the dual nature of political Islam. In conducting a study of the American vision of Egyptian Islamism inspired by the Brothers, it is interesting to focus on official statements from US officials. Egyptian Islamism is embodied on the domestic political scene by its partisan element, the Freedom and Justice Party.
