ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the hard-line conservatives' views toward the United States. Since the new American administration's tenure began in January 2017, a war of words has erupted between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran. In other words, hard-line conservatives see the sanctions and isolation of Iran as a blessing and conclude they will not harm the Islamic Republic. The hard-line conservatives are part of a competitive system in Iran. There are four main factions within the Iranian political system: the traditional conservative right, the moderates, the reformists, and the hard-line conservatives. The hard-line conservatives on one hand defend the dignity of the Iranian nation and the importance of standing against the world powers and defending the Islamic Republic's national interests. On the other hand, they focus on the importance of the Islamic nation and do not accept the national borders.
