ABSTRACT

The chapter explores a novel life-course approach to identify and assesses the main physical, psychological and social benefits of green spaces and to propose planning and design interventions to enhance ecosystem benefits for well-being across urban and rural spaces. It applies ideas to develop a “policy implementation framework” for enhancing health and well-being benefits for all socio-demographic cohorts based upon green space integrity. The chapter subsequently sets out a framework for the development of evidence-informed policy and cohort-specific design interventions to maximise health benefits from green space.
