ABSTRACT

This chapter investigates natural convection around a hot horizontal cylinder placed eccentrically in a cold square enclosure. To attend eccentricity in all possible direction, the cylinder position is changed along a circle inside the enclosure around its center. The effects of changing position on the phenomena of natural convection are shown by corresponding flow and thermal field developments and finally in terms of Nusselt number. Effect of various convectional strengths has also been included in the analysis by varying Rayleigh number (104–106). The Nusselt number value is found to be the maximum when the cylinder is positioned on the vertical axis below from the center.
