ABSTRACT
Unethical practices by teaching professionals undermine the notion of ‘professionalism’ in the teaching profession. This chapter proposes the argument that practicing ‘professional ethics’ helps teachers achieve ‘moral excellence’ and ‘objective moral vision’. This in turn, helps them recognize their moral strengths and weaknesses, leading to the development of their character. Finally, some suggestions to improve professional ethics of the teachers in higher education setting are recommended.
