ABSTRACT

In this paper, the critical stress intensity factor and the tensile strength were obtained by direct tension method for prefabricated double-cracked flat mortar specimen and Brazilian disk method for intact specimen. The stress intensity factor of the prefabricated double-cracked flat mortar specimens under the quasi-static condition is significantly different from that by Brazilian disk method and the difference is about 3.4 times. However, the maximum tensile stress in the plate specimen is very close to the tensile strength that obtained by Brazilian disk method.
