ABSTRACT

The concept of "Post-Western Sociology" was put forward together by some Chinese and French sociologists. The knowledge orientation of Chinese sociology is the same as that of China's "modern transition", and contemporary Chinese sociology should understand and construct the modernity of China from the perspective of globalization. The chapter reviews the important studies since the restoration and reconstruction of Chinese sociology at the beginning of 1980s. It summarizes five specific concepts which can form a dialogue with the construction of international sociology, or "Post-Western Sociology", in order to promote the international dialogue of Chinese sociology. These five concepts are the transformation of social structure, the arrangement of property rights, enterprise and organisation, social stratification and social capital. A Chinese state-owned enterprise is, in essence, a kind of "unit organisation". The exclusive Western property right theories have encountered challenges in explaining China's enterprise reform and economic development.
