ABSTRACT
This study seeks to determine the characteristics of the patient with benign ovarian cysts, the histopathologic distribution of benign ovarian cysts, Human Epididymis Protein 4 (HE4) expression in various benign ovarian cyst tissues and normal ovaries, and to determine an HE4 expression base from histopathologic type. This analytic observational study was performed with a case-controlled design. In this study, HE4 immunohistochemistry staining was performed for various benign ovarian cysts (n = 20), and normal ovaries (n = 20) and interpretation was performed by a pathologist using Allred scoring. There is a statistically significant relationship between benign ovarian cysts and HE4 expression. However, there is no significant difference between histopathologic subtype of the benign ovarian cyst and HE4 expression.
