ABSTRACT

The procedural process of perceiving and understanding the urban landscape is related once more to the presence of man — a superior and social being characterised by thought, intelligence and articulate speech, but particularly unpredictable. The analytical approach to a landscape, characteristic of a specialist, includes both the objective and the subjective component. Landscape as a cinematic space is best approached from two perspectives: how the landscape is captured in film and the interpretation of landscape through film. The students had to use graphic elements that they already comprehend like points, lines, a surfaces and hatches to present a virtual space as the setting for the film. Students have responded well to the assignments and were dedicated to exploring other tools of investigation and representation. Studying space through cinematographic means can help students hierarchize elements in a landscape design plan or an urban development plan.
