ABSTRACT

The art of disinfection has been successfully accomplished since the early 1800s in a multitude of capacities. Disinfectants antimicrobial agents have long been in our world. Normally epoxy coated surfaces are deteriorated by chlorine solutions, peroxide, isopropyl alcohol, ethanol, and peracetic acid and hydrogen peroxide solutions. Normally porous surfaces are deteriorated by chlorine solutions, peroxide, isopropyl alcohol, ethanol, and peracetic acid and hydrogen peroxide solutions. The pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, and lab animal world are no different than the consumer world in this venue. Disinfection is a general term that is used to describe the destruction of a microorganism. But the term is also used in a singular, noun format of disinfectant to describe a classification of agents that prove efficacy of certain vegetative cells. The varying terminology surrounding disinfection and disinfectants worldwide is one of the most confusing aspects in the scope of the subject matter.
