ABSTRACT
The student of location problems, accustomed to the complexities, say, of industrial location or multi-purpose shopping trips, might naively imagine that trips to hospitals would at least offer a simpler vehicle for tests of theories of spatial behavior. Unfortunately, when the real world of hospital use is examined, one is faced with a pattern of great complexity, apparent confusion and irrationality.
