ABSTRACT

The satellite radio show Busted Open Radio, devoted to the world of professional wrestling, attracted a cult following and now boasts the largest listening audience for a sports entertainment radio program. This chapter explores the convergence methods the show utilizes to market and compete alongside literally hundreds of alternative wrestling “news” sources, Twitter feeds, YouTube pages, and other professional and amateur media outlets and marketing machines. Because of the important role fandom plays in the wrestling world, the author also performs a critical analysis of fan activity in this interactive media format.
