ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces a closed-loop supply chain system that was specifically built for washing machines. It explores embedding sensors into products to track their components during their use phases and eliminate the uncertainty about the condition of the components contained within them. The chapter shows that priority dispatching rules such as lowest level in bill of materials (BOM), highest level in BOM, and modified due data. It evaluates the performance of two products, sensor-embedded washing machines and regular washing machines, within a closed-loop supply system. The chapter reviews the use of sensors to improve the performance of closed-loop supply chain systems designed for washing machines. Literature about closed-loop supply chain systems and sensor technology. Sensors can provide real-time tracking information about the washing machines and their components by continually monitoring their performance. This information can then be used to predict failures before the washing machines fail.
