ABSTRACT
Afrika 1 is a continent renowned for its rich traditions and is home to half of the world’s dozen fastest growing economies. The demonstrable rapid pace of change has led many to re-interrogate popular perceptions, resulting in the notion of the “21st century as the ‘African Century.’ The chapter argues for a narrative that is rooted in the Afrikan reality – one that is empathic towards the creative expressions being co-constructed by its people.
