ABSTRACT

Cutter head is the main part of the dredger. The axis angle between the cutter head and the earth plays an important role in power consumption and production during the soil cutting process. Therefore, research on the relationship between the driving power and production of the dredger at different axis angles of the cutter head is important for the design and optimization of dredging equipment. This paper presents the analysis of the driving power and production for the general-type cutter head of a 3500 m3/h dredger. For the numerical simulation of the dredger, a three-dimensional distinct element method is used to determine the efficiency of the rotating cutter head at axis angles of 15° and 45°. In addition, the productivity at these angles is discussed and compared.
