ABSTRACT

Through a series of cutting tests conducted on saturated dense silt soil in the Huanghua port area with prototype rake tooth, the effects of cutting parameters (including cutting angle, moving velocity of rake tooth, cutting thickness, and the type of rake tooth) on cutting resistance have been fully studied. The relationships between the cutting parameters and cutting resistance of rake tooth were established, respectively. The test results show that during dredging, cutting resistance increases first, then decreases gradually after reaching the maximum value, and finally achieves a certain stable value. With the increase in cutting angle, the maximum cutting resistance also increases, which has a linear relationship with the sine of the cutting angle. With the increase in cutting speed, the maximum cutting resistance increases linearly. With the increase in cutting thickness, the growth rate of the maximum cutting resistance becomes increasingly larger, and the maximum cutting resistance and the cutting thickness shows a quadric relationship. In the soil cutting process, the cutting resistance of three types of rake tooth, chisel rake tooth, plough rake tooth, and semi-plough rake tooth, increases first, then decreases, and finally becomes stable. However, the difference between them is that the cutting resistance of the semi-plough rake tooth is much smaller than that of the other two types at the same cutting angle. The fitting curves of the cutting angle and the maximum cutting resistance show different relationships. The results of this study can be used as an important reference for selecting the type of rake tooth and for confirming construction parameters during the dredging of the saturated dense silt soil.
