ABSTRACT

This chapter presents case study of Genentech. The Genentech coaching practice had been in place since 2005. That same year, Genentech became a member of the Roche Group. Genentech is a biotechnology company that discovers, develops, manufactures, and commercializes medicines to treat patients with serious or life-threatening medical conditions. The Executive Talent Development team began wondering if there was a better way to free up internal resources, while providing greater visibility and efficiency to the coaching program. The Executive Talent Development team could then focus more on high-level strategy than day-to-day management of individual coaching engagements. A recognized highlight for the coach community is the frequent interactions with other coaches during our ‘Coach Community Meetings.’ Genentech is able to leverage advanced coaching technologies, track coaching engagements, gather information tied to the business impact, and have a scalable solution with company growth.
