ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book deals with the role of, and relations between, different, but fundamental actors in contemporary economies. It presents the comparative analysis of regional development by factoring in new ways an integrated way traditional actors, contexts and scenarios. The book also presents two main actors: entrepreneurs and universities, and the revitalization of their action in advanced and transitional economies and regions in new globalized scenarios. It explores the triple helix model, to propose theoretical reflections and empirical contributions in a comparative perspective. The founding elements of the triple helix model appeared to have crucial importance in economic and social analysis in all the considered national and regional cases. The book focuses on social issues, such as the role of entrepreneurship in the informal economy in transition countries, the social and economic value of creative work, and the cultural integration of immigrant entrepreneurship.
