ABSTRACT

Global warming caused by the increase in atmospheric CO2 is threatening human and Earth’s survival, and one of the main scientific and technological challenges facing humanity is to reduce the concentration of CO2. Methods for CO2 reduction are urgently needed to reduce CO2 emissions and to minimize global warming. The utilization of the CO2 as a carbon source to produce valuable and useful chemicals could be regarded as the most feasible way to solve this problem, and it is attracting more research interests worldwide. Efficient conversion of CO2 into methanol has drawn the attention of many chemists because of its industrial importance. This chapter focuses on our recent research relating to the synthesis of methanol from CO2 and its interesting mechanism aspects.
