ABSTRACT

Current sex therapy and supervision literature has not conceptualized sex therapy group supervision or differentiated sex therapy supervision in a group setting from existing methods for individual sex therapy supervision. Sex Therapy Group Supervision (STGS) is a conceptual model that integrates client sexuality and group process within sex therapy supervision groups. STGS builds upon existing supervision research to propose a tripartite method emphasizing core knowledge, integrated methods, and reflective processes. A sex therapy supervision group is a space held for therapists to experientially learn through witnessing, modeling, practicing, and integrating a range of vital sexual therapy practices within a reflective group process. Specific supervision strategies for group work are outlined and explicated through case study vignettes.
