ABSTRACT

This chapter suggests that both approaches to futures identification be utilised, as each has its strengths and limitations, and together they can help avoid missing any interesting and potentially highly relevant strategic business performance dimension. It provides an overview of tools for measuring sustainability business performance corporate sustainability is clearly a strategic issue for leading companies and the measurement of non-financial business performance can be an effective way of understanding the contribution that sustainability makes to business performance. A company's value and continuous performance cannot be effectively determined using established financial performance evaluations alone. Sustainability is the major issue for society and business. Sustainability issues significantly impact on the current and future performance of a business, and therefore must be imported into the business objective, strategy and performance. Developing a leadership position around sustainability is not only about risk mitigation; it is also about scanning the horizon for internal business developments, innovations and growth opportunities.
