ABSTRACT

Creative ideas become an intellectual exercise rather than being rooted in the intelligence and acquired wisdom of iterative making and construction. This chapter provides a series of statements that start to give voice to the insights of individuals working in the fashion trenches. Making long-term commitments to normalise business cycles, and enlisting a third party assessment company to document processes under a confidentiality agreement, are just two mechanisms now being considered to enable supply chain transparency while also protecting the supplier's interests. For, the patterns optimise not only the embedded energy in the fabric, but also the highly creative skills and mind of the designer. Most young designers enter the fashion industry because they enjoy combining clothes together in new and innovative ways and/or make their own garments. Individuals wanting to practice fashion for sustainability can often feel quite lonely in trying to do 'good work'. '.
