ABSTRACT

The Human Resources (HR) function is the key partner in embedding Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainability initiatives in any organisation, as this can be achieved only when a company educates, engages and empowers its entire workforce. This chapter proposes that the HR function has a responsibility to be proactive in leading the way in establishing a company-wide CSR-enabled culture. It provides the case study about the bussiness of a woman named as Sharon Black. The HR piece was about turning employees into CSR ambassadors, both in the way they approached their jobs and in their communications internally and externally. The company impacts employees in two cycles that progress simultaneously: the employee's professional cycle and the employee's personal cycle. These cycles run in parallel, though each employee's phasing of each stage in each cycle will be different.
