ABSTRACT

The Human Resources (HR) function is the key partner in embedding Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainability initiatives in any organisation, as this can be achieved only when a company educates, engages and empowers its entire workforce. This chapter proposes that the HR function has a responsibility to be proactive in leading the way in establishing a company-wide CSR-enabled culture. It provides the case study about the bussiness of a woman named as Sharon Black. Sharon felt she had just one more barrier to overcome before she started developing her plan: leadership. Although as the HR Director, she didn't have a problem with getting things moving, she felt she needed a stronger endorsement from her CEO, George, for a more comprehensive approach to corporate responsibility. She move her HR team in a CSR direction as far as was possible within her jurisdiction without alienating George or her ANDEX colleagues.
