ABSTRACT

The Human Resources (HR) function is the key partner in embedding Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainability initiatives in any organisation, as this can be achieved only when a company educates, engages and empowers its entire workforce. This chapter proposes that the HR function has a responsibility to be proactive in leading the way in establishing a company-wide CSR-enabled culture. It provides the case study about the bussiness of a woman named as Sharon Black. Sharon always presented the team with a small gift at the end of the Half-Yearly. This time, she had decided not to buy a gift, but to use the funds to make a donation of one thousand pounds in the name of the Andromex HR Team to a local charity, which she would ask the team to vote on at the end of the meeting. She was certain that she wouldn't meet any resistance, as this would be seen as something within the HR function.
