ABSTRACT

This chapter summarises the structure of the agriculture and food production–consumption system and important factors influencing it. It discusses the potential for change in the system, including learning gained from the different case studies related to change, and introduce a vision for Sustainable consumption and production in the domain. The chapter also discusses extensively the 'landscape' in which the production and consumption of food takes place. It draws more general conclusions about which factors are supporting and hindering change in the agri-food sector. The chapter discusses more in detail activities for different actors to promote more sustainable agriculture and food production and consumption–a kind of action plan. It summarises measures that different groups of actors can and should take to move the agriculture and food system towards more sustainability. The chapter explains the approaches to support behavioural changes towards more sustainability.
