ABSTRACT

Craig Bennett organisation is part of the Corporate Responsibility (CORE) Coalition, which also involves the non-governmental organisations Amnesty International United Kingdom (UK), CAFOD, the New Economics Foundation and Save the Children UK. The CORE Coalition is asking the UK government to require mandatory economic, environmental, financial and social reporting. 'Corporate responsibility is mainly a matter of attitudes and the attitudes got corrupted by the mentality in the markets in the 1990s. In April 2002 an article in the Financial Times reported on a survey conducted by the Aspen Institute, which studied Moral Bankruptcy Assured students' attitudes to business and society. The Financial Times also notes the worrying implications for business. In early June 2002, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) marked 30 years of its engagement with the private sector. UNEP suggests that there could be a mutually reinforcing relationship between voluntary and regulatory approaches.
