ABSTRACT

DaimlerChrysler’s ambition to be the first major automobile manufacturer to have a CO2 vehicle air conditioner installed on a production vehicle sparked a worldwide quest for a better vehicle air-conditioning system. This quest has created a healthy competition between enhancing the existing hydrofluorocarbon (HFC)-134a systems, choosing a new HFC-152a refrigerant with higher environmental performance, or taking the revolutionary leap to CO2.
