ABSTRACT

This chapter argues that the stakeholder partnership framework provides the most effective path for achieving diverse, even conflicting, governance performance goals through transparent, inter-organisational relationships that optimise organisational learning and corporate citizenship behaviour. It seeks to contribute toward an improvement of a management system for corporate governance that addresses problems at the level of the CEO and the corporation, by incorporating the practical applications of long-accepted organisational theories into tangible actions. The path toward achieving a clan approach to organising starts with the steps of socialising and professionalising managers. The stakeholder framework is theoretically important due to its ability to relate stakeholder management practices to the achievement of various corporate performance goals. The path toward better governance starts with the executive office, but the step by itself will not lead to a universal governance system applicable to all corporations.
