ABSTRACT

Stakeholder management has attracted considerable attention from organisational scholars since its introduction to strategic management. The environmental groups would presumably demand some form of inducement, such as time from the top-management team or financial resources that would otherwise go to employees or stockholders, in exchange for their contribution. Environmentalists, citizens and industrialists have long viewed radioactive contamination with alarm despite the fact that radiation is a fundamental part of nature. Individual citizens and United States (US) public-interest groups have gained power in the environmental movement over the past decades. The primary agencies involved in regulating radioactive metals are Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Department of Energy, Environmental Protection Agency and the 50 state environmental regulatory bodies. One of the largest industries in the US, the petroleum industry generates large quantities of radioactively contaminated metal. Certain petroleum deposits contain radium, a naturally occurring radioactive element.
