ABSTRACT

All evidence points to an ongoing and intensifying global crisis in bee populations, with local or regional declines in wild and managed pollinator populations being documented in countries across the world. As we can see from the many and varied chapters in this book, bee decline is a global issue, there is debate over the cause(s), the current and potential financial impacts are materially significant, companies and investors around the world are engaging with the problem, and society has a deep historical connection with bees which strengthens people and communities in their battle to save and restore bee populations. In this final chapter we draw together the main issues raised throughout the book and discuss some salient themes arising from the contributors’ writings.
