ABSTRACT

Australian business is predominantly focused on strategic Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) – where social and environmental issues are mitigated through risk management. Responsible alcohol management and the emerging issue of Australian mental health are key business social issues. The Business Council of Australia and the Australian Industry Group are conservative in their views, while others struggle to attain a critical mass. Australian companies are required to report under the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting System (NGERS) if they have operational control of a facility that emits equal to or greater than a legal carbon/energy threshold. The combined EY and Net Balance team are the largest Australian sustainability service provider in the areas of sustainability strategy, reporting and assurance, social impact, carbon, energy, health, safety and environment. YGAP's projects model has evolved to focus on finding and enabling local social entrepreneurs in Africa and Australasia, helping them to scale their impact.
