ABSTRACT

This chapter presents Argentina profile that includes sustainable enterprise in context; priority issues, trends, government policies and case studies. The concept and practice of sustainability in Argentina has gradually evolved, influenced by the country's cultural, historical and religious traditions, and the changing social, economic and political contexts at the national and global scales. Gradually the concept of sustainability began to gain ground, addressing issues such as good governance, responsible value chains and shared value. International standards are also part of the Argentine sustainable development landscape. Sustainability is also applied to business management and operations across the value chain, developing innovative practices. Banco Galicia has established its sustainability strategy based on 16 goals, addressing all key stakeholders and supported by corporate governance processes. Key aspects include promoting financial inclusion and access to banking services, especially for small enterprises and introducing social and environmental risks in its credit analysis.
