ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book covers the key elements of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability. It details CSR against their eight earmarks or "fad tests" to see how CSR stacks up or whether it should be dismissed along with other fads. Governments and international agencies should look at the different fiscal systems and point out what exactly needs to be done to improve the conditions for social enterprises. CSR and sustainability issues are moving towards the mainstream of company and non-private institutions. In fact governments have been slower than the private sector simply because no quick benefits present themselves in terms of lower public expenditures. There has been some speculation as to whether CSR and sustainability will suffer untimely ends in reports of the "death of CSR".
