ABSTRACT

The Division of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs (EMSA) at Portland State University (PSU) houses departments responsible for supporting student success and engagement from the time students make their first campus visit until they graduate. Departments such as the Disability Resource Center, The Learning Center, Admissions and New Student Programs, Financial Aid and Scholarships, Campus Recreation, and Student Activities and Leadership Programs are but a sampling of units student affairs divisions around the country offer to support student success. Depending on the institution, Enrollment Management may be either separate or connected with Student Affairs. This article refers to PSU-specific EMSA programs as such while using the term “student affairs” when speaking of the profession more generally.
