ABSTRACT

This chapter begins by introducing 'The Daniels Legacy" and the creation of seven interdisciplinary focused courses created to meet the challenge given to us by Bill Daniels, a challenge to involve ethics deeply in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) curriculum. In part as a response to the so-called 'decade of greed" in the 1980s, Daniels challenged the business college at the University of Denver to redesign its core MBA curriculum to include the study of ethics, creativity and values-based leadership. The college was also charged with providing a global perspective as part of its core curriculum. In 2006, the faculty at Daniels took the best from the original Daniels suite of courses and created a new curriculum based on the idea that business professionals in the 21st century faced a rapidly changing and often chaotic world. The values taught at Daniels College of Business through traditional classroom teaching as well as through experiential learning have been described above.
