ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to examine from an institutional perspective what the key drivers, barriers and enablers are for business schools within the UK that are intending to institutionalize responsible management education (RME). This initial research forms part of a doctoral study and suggests there are both implicit and explicit drivers, barriers and enablers that can, and will, affect business schools to varying degrees. The chapter provides a guideline for business school staff members which can assist them when they begin the institutionalization of RME. The framework will offer a number of suggestions for different levels of staff members and how they could respond to the drivers, barriers and enablers present throughout the implementation of RME. The chapter reviews internal and external factors; thus, identifying drivers, barriers and enablers that could play a majority or minority role when business schools are implementing and increasing RME activities.
