ABSTRACT

Social enterprises have existed in the business world for many years, but because of the recent global economic crisis the modern welfare state’s sustainability is increasingly called into question. It has been necessary, therefore, to develop a cooperative vision in order to provide welfare services based on the interrelation among different actors in the economic world: public administration, the forprofit sector and the not-for-profit sector (Borgonovi 2008; Fiorentini 2006).
