ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a group of individuals who are regular and continuing users of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) with those who have taken it in the past, but who are not taking or definitely planning to take the drug. In contrast, among the discontinuers, only 18 per cent are regular users of some other nonprescribed hallucinogen or stimulant. Continuers and discontinuers may also be compared with reference to their reasons for taking LSD. The increased group-centeredness among LSD regulars is also reflected in the ratings of ethnocentrism. For most comparisons of regulars versus discontinuers, the informal black-market group is also excluded. The increased group-centeredness among LSD regulars is also reflected in the ratings of ethnocentrism. More regulars than discontinuers have experienced euphoric responses to LSD. Most regular users began their drug interests with LSD; at least half are now taking drugs other than LSD on a regular basis.
