ABSTRACT

Ongoing observation and objective evaluation have been hallmarks of behavior modification research and application. However, in most classroom experiments dealing with frequently occurring deviant behavior, the record keeper has been an outside observer, typically a psychologist or research assistant (Kubany, Weiss, and Sloggett, 1971; Wasik, Senn, Welch, and Cooper, 1969). Such extravagant and often inconvenient use of outside personnel is certainly justifiable for research purposes but is probably uneconomical for widely accepted practical application.
