ABSTRACT

Since the establishment of Israel in 1948, the Palestinians who became citizens of the state have been concentrated in the blue-collar, least well paid, and least secure jobs. 1 The abundant research produced on their position in the Israeli labor market has thus far failed to account satisfactorily for two essential factors relating to the reproduction of this disadvantage: the political status of the Palestinian citizens in light of the Jewish nature of the state, and the changes that have taken place in the Israeli economy.
