ABSTRACT

Different academic disciplines have developed, which taken together constitute the justice studies. The chapter begins by addressing the issue of the many different approaches taken in social justice research. The reported statements characterizing the distributive-justice force do not, however, all reach the same level of concreteness. The degree of satisfaction with material well-being is determined to a large extent by the perceived level of income sufficiency. The chapter looks at the differential justice evaluations of personal earnings in East and West Germany, making this the cornerstone of this study. In the Just-Reward Model the effects on individuals' notions of just earnings in logarithmic form are determined. The degree of satisfaction with material well-being is determined to a large extent by the perceived level of income sufficiency. The contribution social justice research can offer in this context is that it can direct attention to the psychophysical regularities with which individuals perceive and evaluate justice.
