ABSTRACT
The military and the government are real and their impact on most of the people of the world is concrete. At Seneca it felt like arrest was becoming the focus of actions, with less effort going into communication with the outside world. The primary efforts at communication were directed to arresting officers. The women's peace movement is very popular. There are those hoping to convince Reagan not to deploy nuclear arms, those who want to elect a Democrat, those who seek a legislative freeze, those who pray to God for peace, those who seek a transformation of every institution in which we live. In the past, broad, general movements often become co-opted by their most mainstream components. Alice Walker suggests that if saving the world means continuing the domination of white men, maybe the world should end.
