ABSTRACT

In this chapter, resilience is introduced as another important element in managing disruptions in supply networks. We explain the importance of disruption management in supply networks using resilience and structural controllability and describe its contribution in architecting fail-safe supply networks. We introduce resilience analysis in supply networks to manage disruptions and explain the benefits of having both pre-disruption and post-disruption restoration scenarios in supply networks.

The three-stage method for managing disruptions using resileince and structural controllability is explained in detail in this chapter. In this method, structural controllability is incorporated as a key element for resilience design. We discuss different aspects of the method using an example from the petroleum industry.
