ABSTRACT
This introductory chapter discusses the notion of biology didactics that contributors to this book share, describes the aims of the book and provides an outline of its contents. It provides a brief account of issues in biology didactics. It also explains why this book will be useful to science teachers and educators and how it can be used both as a resource for teaching and as a major sourcebook in teacher preparation courses.
